How Does Chapter 11 Work?
Chapter 11 bankruptcy is available for both businesses and individuals—although it is primarily used by companies. This form of bankruptcy is often referred to as “reorganization bankruptcy” because debtors who file under this chapter of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code are given the ability to reorganize their debt so that they can begin to pay off their creditors. This is very different from the liquidation process of Chapter 7.
